Building a hypnobirthing business whilst on maternity leave - Ruth's journey

Uncategorized Sep 06, 2023

Ruth Wookey became a Hypnobirthing teacher, whilst on maternity leave. Read about her business journey below...

I’m Ruth, I live with my husband and two daughters in Littleborough, Rochdale, and up until very recently, I was a Secondary school English teacher! I discovered hypnobirthing during my second pregnancy when I attended a face to face group course in my local area. I found it fascinating! I read so much about birth during my pregnancy and really enjoyed preparing for the birth! Then, when I had my baby (and not just a positive, but genuinely a transformational birth, by the way!) I just didn’t stop reading! I found myself reading more birth books whilst feeding and listening to birth podcasts whilst out walking or driving around! That’s when I thought, I’m not done with this, am I? I knew that hypnobirthing wasn’t just something I’d done for myself and my daughter, but probably something I wanted to be a big part of my life in the future. So, whilst on maternity leave, I e...

Our 2023 Inspiration Day

Uncategorized Jul 31, 2023

Community is everything at Love Your Birth.

When running a Hypnobirthing training company was just a small seed in my mind, I knew that connection and community would be integral to my business. That's because it is everything I wish I'd had when I became a Hypnobirthing teacher.

In addition to our monthly online catch ups, regular bonus live training videos and thriving Facebook community, once a year we have our annual in-person Inspiration Day.

This is the highlight of my year - The LYB Inspiration Day

This year's inspiration day was all about business, goals and mindset.

We had two guests leading parts of the day. We had the incredible Jessica Ord from Positively Pregnant sharing her own Hypnobirthing business journey with us. She took us behind the scenes of building her business around two young children and getting to her income goal of £3000 a month. She gave such powerful insights into confident pricing.

We also had the wonderful L...

Why pregnancy yoga and Hypnobirthing are the perfect combination

Why pregnancy yoga and Hypnobirthing are the perfect combination

The lovely Kim Mousley from BirthBodyBreathe, one of our LYB graduates explains to us why pregnancy yoga and hypnobirthing are a wonderful combination for pregnancy and birth.

Pregnancy yoga and Hypnobirthing are the 2 things that really transformed my experience of the pregnancy-birth-parenthood continuum. They both have so much to offer through this transformative time of life…and combined they are even more powerful!

In short, Hypnobirthing is a complete birth preparation course. Pregnancy yoga is a specific type of yoga designed to prepare you physically, emotionally and spiritually for birth.

Though they are distinctive in many ways, there’s so much overlap between the 2!

  • both will teach you breathing techniques to calm your mind and body
  • both will teach you about your body, how it works and how to support its physiology
  • both will help you find confidence in your body, your baby and in the

The Moment That I Decided To Leave My Teaching Career

Uncategorized Feb 18, 2023

Betsy has been unwell this week and it transported me back to the actual moment I decided that the employed life was not for me any longer.

I was sat on my sofa crying holding my 9 month old baby in my arms, feeling the heat from his raging fever against my chest. It was October 2013, my eldest child Harris was ill yet again.

I’d been back at work just over a month and pretty much every week he was unwell. He picked up every bug going from his three days at nursery.

I was exhausted, worried and felt like the worst mother and the worst teacher.

I hated putting him in nursery and knew that just as he was getting better he’d get hit by another illness.

Yes, this was stressful and upsetting but it was the response I received from employers that felt the worst.

“Isn’t there anyone else that can look after him?”
“When will you be back?”
“Make sure you set all the work for you classes right away”

I knew I needed to be with my boy and yet I felt enormous guilt and failure that I had missed s...

Mandy’s Journey to Becoming a Hypnobirthing Teacher

Mandy’s Journey to Becoming a Hypnobirthing Teacher

Mandy from Assertive Birth shares her journey to becoming a hypnobirthing teacher.

My name is Mandy and I’m a hypnobirthing teacher based in West Lothian, Scotland. I wanted to write a blog post about my journey to becoming a hypnobirthing teacher in the hope that it will encourage others who are considering taking this leap.

So how did I end up following this path?

Well I have four children, so I’ve given birth a fair few times. With my first I had that typical mindset of - I’ll just go into it with an open mind, see what happens, no need for a plan but the hope of a drug free water birth. Well I quickly learned that if you want your dream birth it takes a bit more preparation than just having an open mind. And needless to say that drug free water birth did not happen.

My second baby was born very quickly at home, not the plan, but it was an amazing experience and it really led me to want to know much more abou...

Fiona Shares Her Wins Since Becoming A Hypnobirthing Teacher

Uncategorized Nov 28, 2022

The lovely Fiona from Fiona Deans Hypnobirthing has kindly shared her wins with us since she became a hypnobirthing teacher.

Fiona is a hypnobirthing teacher offering courses in Solihull and Birmingham. Here are her wins since starting her hypnobirthing business.

  1. I recently did a course for some friends who are expecting their second baby in December. After we finished the course, I received a really love, long review from Tom saying how much they'd enjoyed the course and how useful it had been. Receiving this made it all feel worthwhile in the uncertain times in which we're living!
  2. Completing my hypnobirthing teacher training and receiving some really lovely feedback from Abby on it. When you invest so much time and money in something, it's natural to wonder whether you're doing the right thing, especially when it's completely different to what you normally do so receiving that was a real confidence boost.
  3. Attending the Love Your Birth Inspiration Day and meeting lots ...

Why choose me as your trainer?

I’ve been there and done it. I built my own in person Hypnobirthing business with 2 under 2. I have extensive experience of how to get Hypnobirthing clients, how to build community and how teach classes that are relevant and well received.

I’ve trained and mentored over 300 Hypnobirthing teachers so far. My feedback and testimonials speak for themselves.

I’m a former teacher so I understand how to design and deliver training that sticks. This benefits both you when you are learning with me and also your clients if you choose to use our resources and session plans.

I’m a trained Hypnotherapist so you can trust that I can support your growth in using Hypnosis with your clients. I’m also there for your growth as a confident business owner through the power of Hypnosis too.

I am dedicated to provide ongoing support in both your Teaching and building a business too. Growing our hugely supportive community is very much my mission.

Sian Shares Her Wins Since Becoming A Hypnobirthing Teacher

Uncategorized Nov 17, 2022

The lovely Sian from Serene Beginnings has kindly shared her wins with us since she became a hypnobirthing teacher.

Sian is a hypnobirthing teacher and a baby massage teacher based in North Wales. Here are her wins since starting her hypnobirthing business.

"I think a lot of us probably tend to focus on what we need to do better or do more of but sometimes jotting down what’s gone well makes you realise how much you’ve actually achieved!

Some of my wins so far include:

• Managing to install a booking system and seeing my first bookings come through - it was such an exciting feeling!

• Starting pregnancy relaxation classes - I felt so nervous and I worried if the pregnant mums would find the classes enjoyable, but one expectant mum messaged me after her first class to say she loved it and it was just what she needed!

• Teaching Hypnobirthing to two different expectant mums who had both experienced particularly traumatic first births and hearing what a ...

A calm and positive home birth

Uncategorized Aug 10, 2022

The Birth Of Zachary

A calm and positive home birth

After having a lovely experience with our first baby in hospital following a wonderful Hypnobirthing course, we wanted to have a similar experience with our second baby, this time at home. We got in touch with the lovely Abby and arranged a refresher Hypnobirthing course at home and we are so pleased we did.

At 9 days over my ‘guess date’, my waters broke at 4am and I had one, tiny, little surge. I went back to sleep and felt nothing else until 10am when I started having one surge every 10 minutes. Wanting to stay as active as possible, our little family went to the local park for a walk and played on the swings and slides.

Our lovely, supportive midwife came to our home at 3pm to say hi and check I was doing ok. She advised me to keep active and that she would see me later when labour progressed. We headed back to the park with our daughter. We were able to have a lovely, personal family day, stopping every 10 minutes to breathe ...

A positive water birth at home with a suspected small baby

The Birth Of Ted

A positive home birth with a suspected small baby.

I feel like I need to start my birth story way before birth as Hypnobirthing was not only invaluable during labour but also throughout my pregnancy. It was brought to my attention at my first midwives appointment that apparently my first child, my daughter was ‘very small’ at 6lb 7oz. Nothing was ever said to me at the time but on my first midwife appointment I was told that I would have to have regular scans to ensure my baby wasn’t small again as they would likely need to induce labour if the baby was small and was also told I wouldn’t be able to have a water birth if this was the case. I was frantic from this first appointment. I was in my first trimester and I was already being told I might need to be induced before I’d even had chance to cast eyes on my baby. I found the whole appointment very negative and was even told that maybe ‘my babies just don’t thrive in my pregnancies’. My first birth had been amazing i...
