Yetunde Shares Her Wins Since Becoming A Hypnobirthing Teacher
The lovely Yetunde from Cowriebirth has kindly shared her wins with us since she became a hypnobirthing teacher.
"I've been teaching hypnobirthing for a few years now and love it. It's something I do in addition to a full time job, as it is my way of sharing these amazing life changing skill with others.
Abby has asked me for my 3 wins from being a hypnobirthing teacher/instructor/guide so here they are:
1. Supporting a client through multiple changes - preparing for a vbac, overcoming fear of another c-section, baby being breech, having a planned cesarean booked - to help her have the spontaneous vaginal birth she wanted. I really felt my role as a guide and confidence builder, as she did the work - practicing, seeking information, asking questions about her options and not being scared to wait - but I was there to support her every step of the way.
2. Getting a great review from a client 'I felt' didn't engage with the course. During the sessions I found it hard to read them as a couple, and wasn't sure if the material or my style were connecting with them. So I was shocked when she sent through a review. It made me happy, but also highlighted that everyone is different when it comes to hypnobirthing. Some people find the relaxation easy, or are really engaged, while others perhaps quietly absorb and may even seem distracted. It taught me that even if it appears like a person is not listening - keep going, keep giving - because you may not see it, but they are probably still getting what they need from you.
3. Realising that I can adapt my course and don't have to follow a formula. This was a big win, because I always felt something was missing from the preset course I started teaching with. I was already making changes, little by little, but felt I needed more. Meeting Abby - first with the 'Be seen be booked' course and then with the conversion course (soon to be renamed) gave me the resources and momentum I needed. Her courses and interacting with the community has helped me feel much more comfortable and confident with being independent. As a result my course had completely changed and I have the freedom to keep make it my own - recording my own scripts, or changing things as I go. It's liberating".
